If you are like everyone else; you're looking for the best deal out there, right? Well, we've looked high and low to find some of the best deals out there. The last couple of years have brought about a lot of changes. From how we shop, to how we do business and much more.

In this installment of Black Friday Showcase we'd like to highlight a few small businesses that stood tall through it all. Enduring everything from: the global pandemic, redlining, gentrification, loss of loved one's  and the list goes on. These Black Entrepreneurs continue to strive and provide hope for small business-owners nationwide.

During our quest here is what we found:

  • Unique Arrangements
Unique Arrangements is a quaint floral shop located in North East Denver. Nestled in the historical neighborhood of Park Hill, it is owned and operated by Park Hill's very own, Kenya Johnson. Kenya Johnson is a native of  Park Hill and with that comes a strong sense of pride.

When launching her floral business Ms. Johnson envisioned that she would have a brick and mortar venture in the area in which she was reared. The sole purpose in doing so was to not only give back to her community but to also show others that they could do so as well.

In the midst of setting her vison in motion; Ms. Johnson experienced the unfortunate loss of her youngest child. Jean`-Marquis Desha Stewart was slain outside Club Beta in Downtown Denver due to an act of senseless gun violence.

During this incident (5) others were shot. However, Jean`-Marquis Desha Stewart succumbed to the injuries he sustained. Truly shaken but not deterred Ms. Johnson continues to persevere. She regularly speaks to large groups about the affects of compound grief and the importance of mental health awareness in the minority community.

Although, the Denver Police Department and local authorities efforts have yielded very little at this time Kenya Johnson and her family have found solace and peace within their faith. They remain hopeful yet, they channel their energy towards celebrating the life of Jean`-Marquis Desha Stewart and what he did to impact those during the short time that he was here. In her son's memory Kenya Johnson hosts yearly Easter Egg Hunts, Crafting w/ Kids, Nursery Day for Kids and much more as a way to provide the youth a more positive outlet and milieu to thrive in.

So, if you are in the neighborhood and perhaps you are in need of flowers, a plant or a gift be sure to stop by Unique Arrangements.  It's a vibe! It smells great and they have the most luscious flowers and greenery.
